My wife recently purchased a "Squirrel-Be-Gone II" wild bird feeder from Franks Nursery & Crafts. We have always had problems with the Squirrels eating all the birdfood. This seemed like a good idea. It was a bit expensive for a bird feeder, $39.99 plus tax, but she though it was well worth it. I installed it according to the directions on the side of the box, placing it on a 3/4" pole. The box claims that Squirrels cannot get to the birdseed, and that only the birds can eat from the feeder. | ![]()
I installed the feeder on the pole and filled it with birdseed. | ![]()
The birds seemed scared of the feeder. It was several days before we saw any birds near the feeder. However, the birdseed seemed to be disappearing rapidly. After refilling the feeder, we noticed that the Squirrels were feeding from it fast and furiously. | ![]()

Squirrels are not deterred by this "Squirrel-Be-Gone" feeder. In fact, the Squirrels LOVE this feeder, while the birds don't seem to care for it at all.

This product is not what it is advertised to be. I feel that it is Blatant False Advertising and that the product should be removed from the market place, at least as a "squirrel-proof" feeder. It is only a Gimmick and has no merit. I feel that it's price of $39.99 is extraordinarly high and the product is not worth a Nickel. It obviously does not stop Squirrels as advertised. What is your opinion? You should let Perky-Pet Products Co., 2201 S. Wabash Street, Denver, CO 80231, know about their product. Perhaps they should market it as a "Bird-Be-Gone" SQUIRREL FEEDER, guaranteed to keep away the birds!
